Sun in 6th House
The 6th house is the house of service, processes, systems and work. When we talk about work in the sixth house we are talking about the day to day activities and processes that you accomplish in your work….not the status that you receive for doing what you do (that is in the 10th house). In the context of work the 6th house is about the joy of each task… essentially in many ways the 6th house is that house that is stressed in the main principals espoused in Buddhism.
6th house energy is about putting the entirety of yourself into every task without a focus on what will become or what has been; it is about the details rather than the big picture and the journey rather than the destination and above all else it is about service. Because of this you may well define yourself by the details of your life, by your day to day activities; looking at the individual moments often estranged from the big picture and finding value in the details.
The 6th house is also the house of service. I think when we think of service we often think of asymmetrical power relationships and feeling suppressed by someone else and so many of us bulk at the concept of being defined by our service to others. But in the case of the 6th house service is a privilege not a form of subjugation… in the 6th house we are honoured to be good at something that is useful to others. We find pleasure and pride in knowing that we can help those around us and in doing so make the word a better place.
People with strong 6th house placements particularly the sun in the 6th house are often drawn to helping professions and define themselves by their capacity to make other people’s lives better. Sometimes this extends to making the world a better place but it does not have to. Someone with a 6th house sun might be a mechanic who takes great pride in not only understanding all the processes and pieces that make a car run well but also in helping others by fixing their cars with integrity and dedication, they might be someone who works in social services and supports children and families, they might be a waitress or they might be salesperson who prides themselves on getting their customers the best deal and helping them find the products that they need to be most efficient.
The 6th house is also often related to health, which relates to the 6th house passion for process. The body is multiple systems that need to run in a particular way in order for the whole to function. So 6th house energy in relation to healing is about looking at all of the different parts of the system and finding out which parts are not working so that they can be fixed. With a 6th house sun you likely define yourself by the little moments, by how you help others and by your capacity to understand and fix the systems around and within you.
Sun in the 6th House
The work that you do, and the services that you offer, are very important to your sense of identity. In order to feel good about yourself, you need to be busy with daily activities and to produce work you can be proud of. Focus on finding a suitable and rewarding avenue for expressing this part of you, being extra careful to choose an occupation in which you can express yourself.
You are sensitive to criticism about the work you do, and you work best when you can create your own schedule. Positive feedback for the services you render is important to you, but be careful not to over-identify with the appreciation you receive from others, as your work and your health suffers when you feel under-appreciated. Motivation to do a good job should come from within.
