Aquarius in Relationships
Partners of different zodiac signs bring out slightly different facets of the Aquarius personality. Some elements however are fairly common to all Aquarius relationships. An Aquarius is often slow to commit, needing to be sure of both the mental connection between you and that you will allow them a minimum level of freedom in the relationship. Aquarius Relationship
Aquarius is likely to try to please you even if they know they will fail. It is really a case of "it’s the thought that counts". Their earnestness in trying to love you as best they can is very endearing and makes for a good foundation to a relationship as you are likely to remember these little things if things get bumpy during an argument. There is a penchant for drama with this sign, it is almost delicious and definitely addictive.
Aquarius relationships may feel superficial because their conversations often seem random and distracted. Although this likely isn’t done on purpose, it often leaves the Aquarians romantic partner somewhat addicted to them. You just never know what will come out of your Aquarius’ mouth next and the conversation makes the time fly by.
Aquarians are very passionate lovers and likely to give all physically once they are sure of their feelings for you. They’re noted for being amongst the less inhibited signs sexually. Aquarius and Aries Relationship
Even though there is a great deal of love and respect between these two signs, just for the simple fact that they are strong leadership signs there is a need to learn unconditional love and acceptance. Aries, the fire sign, goes head first into anything that gets their attention, and Aquarian, being an air sign, will at first intellectualize everything before they consider making a move, which can infuriate the Ram as they have already made up their mind and are ready for action.
Their different ways of operating can end up causing much frustration on a day-to-day basis until they learn to respect the others needs and opinions. If they can learn to sometimes agree to disagree, instead of always being right, they can live happily ever after.
Aquarius and Taurus Relationship
Taurus is gloriously sensual – they want romance, touch, emotional and physical expression and everything that goes along with it. Aquarius operates much more on a mental level, and they may not receive or give the kind of physical expression that’s so fundamental to a Taurus in love. Aquarius requires intellectual exchange and a lightness of spirit that Taurus may find off putting or unable to provide. Taurus can be possessive, and Aquarius seeks freedom – trouble ahead in that department is virtually assured, so both parties must make a concerted effort to expand their comfort zones if intimate commitment is desired.
Both signs can be excruciatingly tight-lipped, but for very different reasons. Taurus utilizes silence as a means to achieve the inner serenity they seek. Aquarius and Gemini Relationship
Aquarians are seekers of the truth and look for the facts of a matter. Gemini has been known to stretch the truth, avoid it altogether or worse still, rearrange it to suit themselves. In doing so, there is nothing underhanded or sinister about their actions, rather it’s just an innocent way of leaving things open and loose. Aquarius can find Gemini’s child-like innocence grating from time to time, or the twins’ inconsistencies may strike them as annoyingly immature.
Aquarius can be imperious and controlling, and if they try to impose their will on Gemini too much, Gemini will rebel and escape. The Aquarian shadow side can be very cold, they’ll become remote and detached in a way that unsettles even Gemini, who can be pretty aloof and detached themselves. Aquarius can get annoyed if Gemini talks too much, which can trigger the Aquarius silent treatment. Gemini is more vulnerable than Aquarius and they can be wounded if Aquarius pulls too far away.
Gemini will often be in a student or follower position in the relationship, but Aquarius has much to learn from the twins as well - their open heartedness and positive attitude among them. Since they are both so focused in the mind, they may need to make an effort to get out of their heads once in a while and check in with their hearts. A solid foundation in friendship between them is both probable and highly desirable.
Aquarius and Cancer Relationship
Cancer needs to connect, emotional security is of paramount importance to the crab, and they can be very possessive. Aquarius seeks freedom above all - they are by nature somewhat detached and can be painfully aloof. The mothering way that a typical Cancer cares and shares is way too much affection for Aquarius who sees it as possessiveness and borderline obsession. Cancer’s acute sensitivity is bound to take Aquarius’ need to ‘do their own thing’ personally, when it is not meant that way all.
Aquarius has a way of pulling down the shutters when they want to be alone that can cause Cancer to withdraw into their protective shell so that both partners are effectively removed from each other. Cancer life lessons involve trusting the depth of their emotional experience; their very purpose in life is to feel. Aquarius seeks to break the bonds of imposed values - their very purpose is to express their individual call. One seeks to hold on, one seeks to let go. With supportive elements elsewhere in their charts, these two may make a go of it, but they have their work cut out for them.
Aquarius and Leo Relationship
Staying connected is the biggest challenge. They are off on their own tangents, busy following their individual dreams, which can eventually pull them apart. Unless of course, they work as team unit, but then Leo is always going to want to be the boss and Aquarius is not good at following orders, unless of course, they’re giving them. Leo needs to feel adored; they need strokes, affection and attention that Aquarius may not provide to their satisfaction. Aquarius can be very remote and distant, connecting on a heart level is one of the lessons they receive from their polar opposite, Leo.
The water bearer may be so abstract and detached that Leo can’t relate – they want a mate who is there with them on every level, not a theoretical relationship! Aquarius may find Leo’s ego-centric dramas off-putting and will retreat into stony silence if Leo’s need for attention triggers a tantrum. They may rebel against the lion’s imperious attitude – both signs are stubborn and strong willed, and neither will be bossed around, which can lead to some pretty hairy fire-storms and stand-offs. Fortunately, their stubbornness can also make them reluctant to give up on the relationship, which has tremendous potential for satisfaction.
Aquarius and Virgo Relationship
When an Aquarian’s abrupt and aloof manner suddenly appears for no reason at all, it confuses Virgo. Even Aquarian doesn’t know what causes his or her change of mood, so when questioned by Virgo, they feel boxed in rather than free to be themselves. On a daily basis, this interruption in their lives can cause continual unset and unrest. Aquarius, an Air sign, functions primarily in the realm of ideas, and although Earth sign Virgo is acutely intellectual and analytical, they can find Aquarius too lost in the clouds, refusing to come down to Earth, which leaves Virgo feeling alienated, lonely and frustrated.
Without supportive aspects in their charts, these two may find it difficult to relate and feel comfortable together, regardless of how attracted to each other they may be. Aquarius may find Virgo to be too conservative and small minded to go the distance, while Virgo may see Aquarius as an impractical space case. If they do form an intimate union, they must find a way to transcend intellectual, conceptual ways of relating so as to really click.
Aquarius and Libra Relationship
Although both are fundamentally intellectual in their approach to life, Libra is extremely sensitive and relationship oriented. Aquarius is, above all, individualistic and can be pretty detached and aloof when Libra needs togetherness. Libra has an inquiring mind and although this is something Aquarius loves, the water bearer is not always open to being interrupted. Libra weighs both sides of any decision heavily and Aquarius may become annoyed and impatient when they feel action is called for.
Once Libra arrives at a conclusion, however, they stick with it – Aquarius can seem totally set on a course of action and then switch directions suddenly, out of the blue, which can throw Libra way off into the bushes. Aquarius needs personal space and it’s up to Libra to judge when this is – not always an easy task, but Libra is in-tune enough to read their moods. Aquarius will score points by indulging in some purely romantic gestures – not always their style, but these things go a long way with Libra, and are well worth it!
As a cardinal sign, Libra is a natural leader – they get things started. As a fixed sign, Aquarius is great at sustaining an intention or project, but they absolutely will not take orders, so these two will need to put their strong mental compatibility to work resolving power sharing issues that arise.
Aquarius and Scorpio Relationship
Both Scorpio and Aquarius can be aloof and remote, though for very different reasons. Scorpio camouflages their strong emotional response with apparent indifference, while Aquarius ‘checks out’ and goes cold as an escape mechanism. The demands of Scorpio’s feeling nature may trigger just such a withdrawal in Aquarius, which infuriates Scorpio. Aquarius simply doesn’t engage emotionally with anywhere near the passion that Scorpio does, and Scorpio cannot detach enough to wander the realm theoretical abstractions like Aquarius.
These two powerful signs have definite beliefs, which are often very different to each other, and achieving a middle ground is rarely possible. They may both strike each other as eccentric or strange - and to each other, they are! Both are strong characters and fixed in their own ideas, which means they each have a stubborn streak. Because the potential for a unique and powerful connection is strong, these two need to learn to compromise. Mutual respect is guaranteed, and with enough desire and effort they can make a relationship work.
Aquarius and Sagittarius Relationship
Strong opinions can clash momentarily, but once the steam is out of a situation it is cast aside with both being able to move on. Fortunately, Sagittarius has the ability to forgive and forget, saving Aquarius the difficult task of apologizing, which, as a fixed sign, doesn’t come easily. Sagittarius can be blunt, but then again so can Aquarius, so even their challenges can be positive. They may not have much experience being on the receiving end of such disarming directness, however, but unless there’s a significant breach of trust or disregard for each other’s sensitivities, any fire-storms that arise will quickly burn out.
Aquarius can be pretty controlling and stubborn, and Sagittarius is independent above all, and regardless of how much they love their partner, Sag will rebel if the water-bearer seeks to impose their will too strongly. Sag may strike Aquarius as a bit flakey or unreliable at times, the centaur’s spontaneity can play out in some pretty immature ways sometimes, which can turn Aquarius off. And Aquarius can turn very cold and distant when they’re angry, which may hurt and confuse Sagittarius, who may not understand what they did to deserve the silent treatment.
Aquarius and Capricorn Relationship
Capricorn loves rules, regulations, procedures and systems, and Aquarian loves to break all of them. Capricorn is a traditionalist, and Aquarian doesn’t take anything as set in stone and prefers to make their own rules, within the boundaries of the law, of course. In this sense, having an opposite value system can cause tension, which can make it very difficult to live in each other’s world, but noting is insurmountable. The goat can show the water bearer how to be serious about life and the journey to take to achieve a successful outcome.
Aquarian shows Capricorn how to take a chill pill and have an indecent amount of fun, which is extremely good for Capricorn, as this is something they don’t allow themselves to do often and it can have an amazing healing affect on them to let go and live a little (or a lot). To live with abandonment is not in the Capricorn rule book and if Aquarius can tempt them to do so, the relationship has a chance, if not, then it will probably die of natural causes.
Capricorns have their own schedule and as Aquarian prefers not to live so rigidly, it can be difficult for their calendars and moods to sync. Aquarian can also appear to be aloof as they need a certain amount of alone time, and Capricorn, as with many other sun signs, can take this personally.
On the commitment level, Aquarius will commit, but sometimes they can enter a commitment with a feeling of being trapped, and when this happens, it is not a good scene for either signs. Aquarius doesn’t know how to extract themselves and Capricorn will keep trying to make it work, so it is important for both of these signs to feel an undeniable connection before entering into a serious relationship.
Aquarius and Aquarius Relationship
Syncing calendars to spend quality time together. Each is off doing their own thing and they can be a little spaced out; engaging in projects they work on together will help strengthen their connection. Their moods can be changeable and sometimes a bit erratic, so keeping up with each other is tricky. Aquarius seeks the ideal and they have high expectations for their mates. They tend to live in their heads, so coming down to earth to deal with a flesh and blood relationship will be both liberating and educational.
Though usually cool headed, Aquarius can have quite a temper when crossed, and as a fixed sign they’re not easily moved to apology or compromise. Aquarius can turn very cold and silent when angry; if a stand-off occurs it could be pretty chilly for a while until one of them thaws enough to make the first move to resolve it.
Control can be an issue, as they each have strong wills and opinions, so again – practicing the high art of compromise will serve them both. Digging in ones heels and rebelling for the mere sake of it isn’t evolutionary, but childish. Since they’re so mentally focused, it’s important to check in with their emotional and physical selves to stay grounded and connected to their whole being – and each other!
Aquarius and Pisces Relationship
Pisces needs more togetherness than Aquarius is capable of giving. The Aquarian aloofness and free spirit can be a huge problem for a Pisces. The Fish may feel the rug pulled out from under them when Aquarius suddenly turns cold and detached, which they are quite capable of doing. Aquarius may become bored and frustrated with what they see as Pisces propensity for drama, thinking the Fish should be able to simply rise above their emotional turmoil.
Aquarius needs a huge amount of freedom and will strain against the Fishes’ tendency to cling. The fish like to be attached rather than detached to their partner in life. They need deep, emotional understanding that feeds their soul, not theoretical or intellectual partnership. From the Water Bearer’s side, Pisces can be more than a bit smothering and needy, triggering Aquarius to withdraw into isolating distance. Not an ideal scenario.
